Professional panic bar and exit device installation for commercial properties in Vancouver and Burnaby. Meet BC fire code requirements with properly installed hardware.
Panic bars — also called push bars, crash bars, or exit devices — serve a critical safety function in commercial buildings. In an emergency evacuation, occupants can push the bar and exit immediately without fumbling for a key or handle. This rapid exit capability is why panic bars are required by BC fire code on many commercial exit doors. At the same time, the door must remain secure from the outside — preventing unauthorized entry while allowing free egress. Houdini Locksmith installs panic bars and exit devices that balance both of these requirements correctly.
We install panic bars for single doors, double doors, and glass storefront doors. We carry rim panic devices for surface-mounted applications, mortise panic devices for doors requiring a higher security level, and vertical rod panic devices for double doors where both the top and bottom of the door must be secured. All hardware we install meets or exceeds ANSI/BHMA standards for exit devices.
We also install electric strike and electromagnetic lock combinations that allow panic bar doors to be integrated with access control systems — the door can only be opened from outside with a credential, but always pushes open freely from inside for emergency egress. This is a common configuration for office building main entrances, server room doors, and pharmacy dispensaries.
